Yes. You might not see many a day, or in weeks, but they are there somewhere in the wilderness, areas full of dirt of junk.

There are 2 kinds of scorpions Black and yellowish (I think the yellowish are more common). Kill them with a shoe. You might also see them climbing on walls.

Something very important is to check your shoes before putting them on. Shake them (as well as your clothes) to make sure scorpions are not hiding in there.

Remember, there are scorpions in Mexico, but they it is not infested with them. You will find them more in the wilderness (the desert, etc). Scorpions are nocturnal, during the day they find shelter in holes, under rocks, etc. Having said that, when you go out in the wilderness stay away from holes and don’t lift rocks too casually.

Scorpions eat insects and enjoy the wilderness. If you see one in a house, hotel or developed area is because it is astray; they really are not out there to hunt humans.

Scorpion venom are optimized for action upon other spiders and insects, and therefore most scorpions are relatively harmless to humans; stings produce only local effects (such as pain, numbness or swelling). A few scorpion species, however, mostly in the family Buthidae, can be dangerous to humans. The scorpion which is responsible for the most human deaths is the Androctonus australis, or fat-tailed scorpion of North Africa. The toxicity of A.Ssince A. australis injects quite a bit more venom into its prey, it is the most deadly to humans. Human deaths normally occur in the young, elderly, or infirm; scorpions are generally unable to deliver enough venom to kill healthy adults. Some people, however may be allergic to the venom of some species, in which case the scorpion's sting can more likely kill. A primary symptom of a scorpion sting is numbing at the injection site, sometimes lasting for several days. Scorpions are generally harmless and timid, and only voluntarily use their sting for killing prey or defending themselves. Generally, they will run from danger or remain still. But this dangerous scorpion is found in Saudi Arabia, Nort-Africa, Turkey, Egypt, and those areas. Not in Mexico.

Just leave it alone. If you must pick it up, use a tissue or paper and take it away from your camp. They are afraid of you and will only sting to defend. The ones in Baja are small and weak. If stung, cut a lime in half and place it over the area, it should take the sting away. Don't mess with the big brown kind, throw dirt on it.

I assume they are in Mexico, I know they are in Texas/Arizona.

They are pretty small (about the size of your thumb), just step on it.

Just in some states, not everywhere. To kill them the best ist to foot on the sting, but I prefer just to go (they only sting when you disturb them, for that reason don´t move stones).
