Not necessarily. You could also have a loose tie rod, bad bearing, any of a number of things.

Check out Hunter Wheel Balancers on line. they have a relatively new machine that checks the rims for lateral run out, condition of tire, tire run out and balance. If the tire wheel combination fails the initial test the operator will tell you what's causing the problem.

During the spin balance the machine examines where the added weight will do the most good. Occasionally weights are taped on the inner wheel directly under the bolt center flange. if other weights are needed they'll place them on the inner bead if you have aluminium wheels. The force wheel is a 10 in. diameter drum near the floor opposite the technician. If a out of round situation exists the force wheel exerts 4,000 lbs.pressure on the tire as it spins to reflect spinning on the highway.

If you go to their site and sort balancers till you find the force wheel balancer a 20 minute show describes the machines capability. There is a red box to open and in it reveals a message that asks for your zip code or mailing address. It will show who has these machines in your area. Believe me I was set to return a pair of tires because of lateral run out. This machine fixed the problem. You've got to see it to believe it.

Well when you bought the new wheels and tires did you get them balanced before you put them on? If you didnt then it needs to be balanced.

Try the little, inexpensive things first. Sounds like it threw a lead balancing weight. 10 minute fix-usually free where you bought the tire(s)....

if it does it at this speed only might be. I would recomend getting all 4 balanced. you could also save on further damage to your tires. it runs about 7 to 10 dollars a tire.

Probably yes, but try a higher speed. If it worsens, then you may need an alignment.
