I have one of those empty cylindrical towers that hold the bought CD-Rs and I have about 40+ bought DVD movies and to save space I wanted to stack them. Is this gonna damage my movies eventually and should I put them back in their own cases?

Keep them in their individual cases especially if they mean a lot to you. Same goes for audio CD's.

Just don't stack more than 25 on top of each other and they'll be fine. If you have one of the 'round cusions' that comes with some of these cylinders, then stack 25, insert the cusion and then you can stack another 25 on top of that. More than 25 causes irrepairable indentures that do not heat correctly during the 'burn' process. This is why is you buy a pack of 50 or 100, sometimes you'll end up with a lot of blanks that contained errors and you end up throwing the useless ones away. They were just stacked too high.
