I am a retired military officer and teacher. Most of my life I have been conservative. But have voted Dem as often as Rep.
But now, watching Bush, I am too much reminded of Nixon. Neither seems to care what the American people want. The more his smirk goes to the Right, the further I move to the left. The man must be stopped by congress and senate. Write them, please.

You should blame the House and Senate. Most of Bush's unpopular policies were overwhelmingly supported and passed by Democrats and Republicans in Congress. Bush gets blamed, of course, and he deserves to get blamed since he signed the legislation into law, but why don't you look up voting records regarding the war in Iraq and the PATRIOT ACT to see which members of Congress voted for these bills.

I don't think you were all that conservative to begin with. That's fine, of course--I'm not conservative, either--but I know that one bad president wouldn't turn me away from my ideological foundation if that's what I really believed. You're clearly not a conservative and your willingness to vote Democrat your entire life proves that, too. So, just accept that you're a left-leaning moderate and vote the way that makes you happy rather than blaming Bush for turning you off from your belief system. Don't give him that much credit!

As a former military officer and teacher you probably value common sense and a rational plan. And clearly you see that the current administration has neither common sense or a rational plan.

You really don't have to be on the right or left to see that the bridge is out ahead and the President and his Administration are not listening to the passengers. Let's just hope the airbags work...

I am so happy to hear this. I cannot stand to watch him on tv. He just oozes the lies. He smirks and talks about the casualties in Iraq. My fiance is in the army. I am so scared that this dumb man will send him to a death sentence in Iraq or Iran like he has over 3000 other brave souls. Thank you for speaking out. I thought the last election would do something, but I am young and naive. The american people have spoken. this administration just isn't listening!

Just answered another question the same way I will answer this one: Bush is doing EXACTLY what over 60 million Americans elected him to do back in 2004. The problem is that AMERICANS have changed their minds about what they want. So they voted liberal democrats into the House and the Senate to try and stop Bush from doing what they themselves elected him to do back in 2004. Go figure!

Well said and a great comparison.
President Bush is waging a war that only he wants at this point.
I have nothing further to add.
And a star.
