4. absolutely not
5. yes... even gay people should be given the right to civil unions. our government has seem to forgotten a little thing called "separation of church and state"! religion should have nothing to do with wanting to be recognized by the government and the rest of the world as a married couple even if you are the same sex.
6. they are born gay... its just what i believe, what my gay friends and family members believe, and what i have learned from a sexual health class in college although i have had friends who were swinging the other way
7. for gay marriage
8. yes... everybody should have the opportunity to be blessed with raising a child no matter what your race, religion, or sexual orientation... especially if you are giving an adopted child a warm, loving home and a chance for a promising future =)

Elizabeth, 25, Caucasian, Christian

1. No, not at all
2. Yes, several friends and two relatives
3. Yes
4. No, they are people just like me
5. Yes they should, any two people who love each other should be allowed to marry
6. Both, some are born with hormonal imbalances in their brains that affect sexual orientation, others become homosexual depending on how they are raised or if they had a bad experience with the opposite sex.
7. I would vote for it
8. They should be allowed to adopt. Two people who love each other and are working together to build a future make just as good parents as a heterosexual couple.

I hope this helps.

34, Male, White, Catholic, Heterosexual (straight)

1) No.
2) No.
3) Not sure what you mean. If your asking would I associate myself with one if I knew them ... I probably would if they are a nice person.
4) No
5) Yes, it's their life ... why does the government have a right to decide who can marry who? If the government said a black man cannot marry a white woman, I'm sure that would piss people off.
6) I honestly don't know.
7) I probably wouldn't vote at all. I usually don't vote lol.
8) No. A child needs a male and female presence in his or her life. They need a mother and father.

1/2 Asian/1/2 Scottish
No religion (spiritual)

1. Not one bit
2. Nope, some family prejudice against gays
3. Nope, straight
4. Nope, defend them
5. Yes, because this is a "free country", or suppose to be anyway
6. Born gay. Are you born straight? I certainly was. I didn't wake up one day and think "hey, I think I'll be attracted to guys today."
7. For gay marriage
8. Yes, if they're good parents. Just like straight couples shouldn't be allowed to adopt if they're bad parents. It works both ways. It's not about the sex.

24, F, Caucasian, multi-faith
1. No, I'm not homophobic.
2. Yes, I have homosexual friends.
3. I'm not sure what you're question means, but if it means do I associate with gay people, then yes, I have gay friends.
4. No, I don't discriminate against gay people.
5. Yes, homosexual couples should be able to marry. Their marriages don't hurt other people (regardless of what super religious conservatives say). If we're serious about keeping a separation between church and state then no one should have to file for a license if s/he is getting married in a church and all those who "marry" outside of the church wouldn't technically be married, would they? Also, I think that denying a group of people equal protection under the law is blatantly discriminatory and unconstitutional. Brown vs. the Board of Education proved that separate but equal is unequal (i.e. "civil unions" instead of "marriages").
6. I think that many homosexuals are born gay, but that others experiment with their sexuality.
7. I would vote in favor of gay marriage.
8. Homosexual couples should certainly be allowed to adopt. They have the right to parenthood as much as straight parents do. In addition, there are so many kids waiting to be adopted that I think the more families who are willing to adopt, the better!

Good luck with your survey!
