would water leak into the oil regardless if the heater is on or off when the head-gasket or head is slightly cracked?

and could the slight level increas in the oil be due to the change from cold to hot in the wather outside.

I put some head gasket sealant in a few weeks ago and it worked. The oil level is slightly decreasing every day, but it seems when I check the oil lever after running the car for a while wither heater on, the oil level seems slightly more.

Then it goes back down to normal lever the next day or so.

What could be going on.

If water is getting in the oil thru a head or head gasket, then the heater will not make any difference. You can be getting some moisture due to condensation, but I have never seen the oil level go up and down. If you are getting water in the oil then you will be loosing water from the radiator and the oil should turn light brown color. It will look kind of milky.

I would think that it is actually leaking all the time. The cooling system wouldn't care if the fan speed is low or high. The flow through the heater core may have some affect on the flow through the head, but nothing to speak about if any. I would get the head gasket fixed before you destroy the engine. Trust me on this one, been there.

The heater has no effect on coolant entering the crankcase. If you have a leak in the head gasket the only fix is to remove the head & repair ASAP. Antifreeze has an detrimental affect on the engine bearings, therefore deal with it soon.

Regardless. Water in the system pressurizes when at operating temps, even if the heater is on.
Foam in the oil proves water is leaking into the block.

If your oil level is rising, it isn't expansion. Seems you have a bad head gasket alright...coolant may be under the oil, since oil floats

reguardless of anything if you have a cracked head or blown headgasket you will get antifreeze in your oil need to get it fixed before you destroy the whole engine. the only way to stall this problem would be to put a lower pressure radiator cap on and block sealer
