What is used most a linear model or a web model?

Hi. In my opinion, a linear model http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?s=linear+model&gwp=13 but it would depend on the application. Using a web model would seem to be a better idea for complexly interactive systems with multiple nodes, say, with each one responsive to the others.
