They all sought to change the status quo through the evolving ideology of progressivism. None of the parties listed below realized national electoral success. However, the Progressive Party of 1912 came in second (ahead of the Republican Party's candidate William Howard Taft) in the Presidential Election of 1912 under the leadership of Theodore Roosevelt.

The platform called for women's suffrage, recall of judicial decisions, easier amendment of the U.S. Constitution, social welfare legislation for women and children, workers' compensation, limited injunctions in strikes, farm relief, revision of banking to assure an elastic currency, required health insurance in industry, new inheritance taxes and income taxes, improvement of inland waterways, and limitation of naval armaments.

i'm not doing any research for you, but the way to successfully evaluate this statement is to give a general summary of the legitimate 3rd parties in American history. one by one define them and if possible name someone that ran for office as a third party member. i think, but not sure that Teddy Roosevelt ran as a progressive, but he also is synomonous with Bull Moose and Rough Riders. if he was a progressive, then i think he was the only President that was not from the two major parties. the progressive party also has been a force among the farmers in the industrial age, i think, again you have to do the research.

so do a good search on third party history in american politics. if you find the statement to be true structure your arguement to support the progressive party. if the statement is not true, show examples of the most successful third party. go one way or the other and be clear about what position you are taking.
