Oh my gosh, I feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad for you! What you tell your mom is that you should only do things that you enjoy, and if you plan to get into a college in the future, she should enroll into something useful. I assure you, Harvard University isn't gonna give you a scholarship for clogging at the mall. (The mall? A public place!? I feel SOOOOOO bad for you!) If she wants you to be happy, she should let you do something you want to. If you want her to let you quit, you should have something else planned. For example, if you want to do tennis lessons, you should find out how much it costs, how you can get there, if you REALLY want to do it (YOU CAN'T QUIT ONCE YOU JOIN SOMETHING ELSE, YOU MOTHER PROBABLY WOULDN'T LET YOU!) Then, don't yell or say, "but mom, It's really gay! I would rather do tennis instead! Look...." No. That's not how you do it. What you do is: "Mother, I know you want me to do clogging, but I really don't like it. I have found something else that I want to do. Tennis. Practice is a 4:00 PM and Angie's mom can drive both of us there. She's already in it. I want to do it in high school, too. Angie's mom said that it is best to start as early as I can, and that should be very soon. I know your disappointed that I won't perform, but clogging isn't going to help me in life right now as much as tennis will."

Two words: Grow up.
As a dance teacher, sometimes you have to do things you don't like. Even if you don't like the music, you'll have ample opportunities to dance to other songs down the line.
Your mom is right. Just because you don't like the SONG or choreography is no reason to give up on the activity itself. If you ever get to the point of being a professional dancer, you will have to dance to music you hate. You will have to do choreography that you aren't in love with. Because that is what adults do.
If I were your teacher and you acted like this ~in~ my class, I'd invite you to not come back. You aren't the adult in charge. But doing things you don't like to do helps you learn how to become an adult.
I don't like changing diapers. I don't like doing dishes. I don't like dealing with prima-donna students. But I do them because that is what I have to do.

Ask your mom to help you - ask her to explain what benefit should you be getting from these lessons and how will they make you a better person. Then ask her why do you keep thinking that she is just re-living her life through you.

tell her, in a reasonable voice, that by staying in the dance, youll be letting down your fellow dancers, because you wont be putting as much effort in as the others, a result of not liking the choreography. reason with her, and explain that if she let you take a different class, one that is more challenging and mature, it will help you perform to the best of your ability, and develop more skills.

you have to calm down and ask her nicely and don't keep asking her give her a couple of days to think about it and you should be out of that dance class before you know it.
