I have 2, Discover and a Master card. I rarely use my master card because I don't get any rewards for using it. My discover card gives me 1% or 5% cash back on purchases.
Then I check my credit report and it seem that I have 5 credit cards. I do remember applying for some credit cards when I was in college, but I never used them or activate them. So I decided to close some of the accounts and keep just 2.
I do not plan to apply for anymore credit cards since I can always increase my credit limit with my current ones.

Two. I keep one on me to use and pay off each month. I keep a second one at home. I uses the 2nd one once a month and pay it off too. I keep 2 because someone told me having a high credit line w/ little usage helps your credit score. For example, having $20K in credit limit on a card but only putting $20 on it means you have a good ratio. If you're maxed out, then you have a bad one. I'm not 100% sure if it really helps your credit score. I never confirmed it. It's nice to have an extra one in case something really bad happens and you need the extra money. Keeping the 2nd one at home is a safety. Just in case I lose my wallet.

Two, and that is too much for me! I have never applied for one, I had the hook up with the banks to get my first credit card!

One of each: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and Sears (well, this is really a MC now, but I've had it a really long time).
Used to have more - department stores, etc. - but a long time ago I got rid of everything except these five. Could definitely get others, but I don't think I'll ever have the need.

I have two, one Visa and one store card (Best Buy to be exact). I will have both of them paid off by the end of this month. I don't plan to apply for any more. (My husband needs to build his credit, however, so we may get one more between us.)

1) 0
2) No.
I am a shareholder in MasterCard, Morgan Stanley and American Express.
This means I make money each time you use a credit card.
If you want to be a shareholder too then drop me a line.

I have 3, but only use the one with a $1000.00 limit--that way I don't go deep into debt!
The others are for extreme emergencies--like if my well pump died, or the fridge was kaput.

One for my business (American Express) and two personal ones (one VISA and one American Express). That's all I need. I pay all of them off at the end of each month.
