Yes, they can. If you don't want to go to Saturday School (That's what it was called when I was in school) don't get in trouble. GEEZE. It's not rocket science. The school and your parents are trying to get kids to be responsible because in a couple of years you will be out on your own with no life skills to help you get by of you don't start growing up and taking responsibility.

BTW. If you are ordered to go to Saturday School and you don't show up they can suspend you!

I think that schools could start having detentions served on Saturdays.I'm sure that the administration isn't concerned about the fact it could ruin your weekend(or anyone else's for that matter). To ensure you do not have to serve a Saturday detention try to put more effort into your school work. This is not about the detention being fair or not it is a punishment. A punishment is not supposed to feel good.Remember it is your actions that "earn" you a detention so you ,and only you. can decide how you want to spend your time.

Have you ever seen Breakfast Club?

If there is Saturday School Tutoring, then yes, there can be Saturday Detention. They are very much allowed to do that.

If you would just stop getting in trouble, do your work, you won't have to worry about ISS nor Saturday Detention. Take this and everyone else's advice. Believe me, you will like it.

Hope this helps!

God Bless!

Yes the school can do Saturday detentions. Best advice is to quit skipping the classes and detentions then you won't get held back in school while all your friends go on to the next grade next year.

Kids here in California go to Saturday School when they break a rule. You don't want the punishment then don't do the crime. Not only does it ruin your weekend but it ruins any thing your Family plans on doing together.........like a day at the beach. Behave yourself and you will not have to worry about it.

We have this thing called Saturday School at my school.
You sit in a classroom from 8:00 to (either 1:00 or 12:00 I don't know I've never been) doing nothing, but homework.
My friend's been and she says it's pretty "fun", but I see not where the fun could possibly be sitting in a room for four or five hours doing work....that would pretty much suck don't you think?

They had Saturday detention when I was in middle school, so yes they can do that. Just stay out of trouble and you won't have to worry about getting Saturday detention. It's really not that hard to do...

So now they want to take half of YOUR weekend away. The can do that and its gonna be sucky for you to be in school all week and only one day off. Can you start pisin other people off so you don't waste your entire high school career in iss. It doesn't sound like much of a life.

Nawh, I don't think so. There's probably some school code locked in the back of a locked cabinet, inside a broken toilet stall that has "do not use" on it, inside a bathroom that says "Beware of leapord," in a basement of an old deserted building that says "no academics may be unvoulintary put on a student (public school) during the weekend, or any of the following holidays:"

I don't know about your school, but at our scholl and many others they do give Satuday School, ours last from 6 a.m. to 10 or 12, I can't remember. And at our school if you don't show up you get suspended or expelled, depending on how many times you missed. Good luck, I hate it.
