Hi, it does sound like your body could be gearing up for your first period. Sometimes, the brown/red staining you describe happens and then nothing until the following month or even the month after that. Other tell-tale signs MIGHT include tender breasts, water retention, spots, irritability, sleeplessness, bloated tummy, nausea, dizziness, diarrhoea. Obviously, everyone is different and not everyone suffers from these symptoms. Your body has been preparing for menstruation for years and will still be sorting a few things out. Don't be surprised if your first ever period only lasts 2-3 days. Finally, good luck, don't worry, and welcome to the wonderful world of womanhood ;-)

Sounds like spotting right now but it sounds like it could be coming at any time now.
When my periods became regular much later I would get brown discharge for about a day and then it would go in to the full period. The brownish discharge is just old blood and yes it can come out as spotting.

It is probably the beginning of your menarche (first period). However, periods are very "funny" for most girls when they first begin. You may not see another spot for a little while, or you may find more stains tonight! No matter what comes next, don't stress because your body likes to take its time.
Perhaps just make sure to wear some panty-liners because sometimes those floodgates just open... and it can be very emberassing... (this is from experience of when I was 13 :-)

I think that you are starting your period. That's what happened to me too when I first started. That stain you found is actually dried blood. In the first time it is only going to happen once.(Which already happened). In your next period it may be for two days or three. Or even a week. It depends on your body. It may be once a month.Like I said, It all has to do with your body.

Your doctor, a physician who has gone through years of medical training & experience, already answered this question for you. So why do you feel this impulsive need to ask a million strangers on the Internet, none of whom have any proven medical training whatsoever? You need help, all right, just not the help you think you need. I hate teenagers...

That wasn't your actual period. That was spotting. I always spot for a couple days before I get mine.
