I've had period like cramps off and on the entire time I have been pregnant. I am pregnant with my first baby too, and at first was frightened by the period like cramps, because they kept telling me it was a sign of miscarriage, and then later pre-term labor. But I think it's probably somewhat normal, you have to figure everything is stretching to accomodate the baby and that is bound to bring on some pain. What they finally told me to watch for was if I started to have the cramps and they were significantly stronger and/or more painful than the ones I was having frequently, or if they were accompanied by moderate to severe low back pain.

I had the same thing before I knew I was pregnant and still to this day I'm having them. I'm 15 weeks and I called my Dr today about it because the cramps have been constant and in my back too. The Dr said this is perfectly normal and just the uterus stretching. As long as theres no blood, theres no need to worry. Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck :)

Hi Lily, I am 5 weeks 4 days pregnant.I actually went to the E.R last Sat to have my cramps checked out because I was worried. The hospital did a ultrasound and some blood test. They ensured me that everything is fine. They said it is normal to have cramping. It is do to your ligaments stretching and making room for the baby.My cramps range from mild period like cramps to feeling like I just got slammed in the stomach. The cramps come and go.They are usually not in the same spot, but I do tend to get more in my lower right pelvic area.Hope this helps.

I am also pregnant for the first time. I have had the cramps too. I am almost 9 weeks and I am 32 yrs old. They told me that cramps are normal to have. If you have a fever or bleeding that is when you should call your doctor. Good luck and take it easy.

Yes! I have had 3 babies, and with every pregnancy for the first few months, I felt like my period was 'coming on' just like before when I wasn't pregant around the time my period was due. I always expected that I would start bleeding at any moment, but never did.

The cramping you will feel all throughout your pregnancy is just your uterus growing. Its very normal.

Good luck and congratulations! :)

With my first pregnancy, I had cramps before finding out I was pregnant. I actually kept stalling to take a home pregnancy test because I was sure my period was on its way. I wound up having mild cramping off and on through my entire first trimester. It was a fairly healthy pregnancy, and went full term.

Everyone has cramps after getting pregnant, because your body is going through alot of changes.
Half way through my second pregnancy i started getting really bad cramps. It got so bad at times that i could hardly stand. So i went to my doctor for a check- up, and it was a urinary tract infection.
It would be best if you tell your doctor about your cramps. Urinary infections do not go away on their own...you have to take anti-biotics.

I had period type cramps up until my second trimester. I even bled at 14 weeks a little. Don't worry...you are fine. You should tell your doctor anyway just to be on the safe side.
