Hopefully you won't meet any idiotic Americans like Laura who think they are being funny.

Anyway, Portland OR is one of the States' lovliest cities (almost as lovely as Portland, ME, after which it was originally named) and definitely at present the best managed and planned medium or large sized city, which strong ordinances and laws for regional planning that is anti-sprawl and pro-downtown living and pro-public transit (many American conservative right wingers deridingly call it The Peoples' Republic of Portland.

Portland, OR, is full of great clubs and fine places to eat and is also the center of America's micro-brewery movement (Portland, ME is another; some imaginative airline should start up a Portland to Portland shuttle just for beer lovers and foodies!)
and is near to the Willamette Valley wine area (famous for pinot noirs) although if you are from B.C. with its great Okanagan wines that may not impress you so much. No, it doesn't really rain all the time - probably just half the annual rainy days as Vancouver, B.C. Actually, Portland is nicknamed the City of Roses. You should find your weekend there just delightful.

I ain't got a clue as to what to do in "Potland, Oregan". I don't even know where it is. But I hear Portland, Oregon is a great place, and you can learn to spell there too. God Bless you.

Bring an umbrella, it seems to rain there all the time. Every time I was there it would rain once a day for a period of time, then the sun would come out.
