I have a new Compaq Presario C500 Notebook that all of a sudden has no sound.?

I have checked the control panel and volume controls are not muted and all on full volume. I have checked the devices and there is a sound card installed. There was sound but it just stopped.

Try the headphone jack with a set of headphones. That will tell you if the sound card has gone bad.

You could also remove the sound card from device manager, and reinstall with the current drivers. Sometimes that works.

Anything else change on the computer when this happened?
