How often you clean depends on the size of the container and whether or not you have a filter. In a bowl with no filter, change all of the water every 2-3 days to prevent ammonia problems. If it's in a tank with a filter, change about 25% every week to keep the tank clean and healthy.
There is no one best food. Variety is the key. A good staple flake or pellet should be his main food and you should also offer a variety of frozen or freeze dried foods. Blood worms and brine shrimp are two betta favorites. I like to feed twice a day, once in the morning with flake or pellet and once in the evening with a frozen or freeze dried food. Doing this gives them a wide variety of foods and a solid base of vitamins and minerals.
Yes, you need the drops to remove chlorine unless you are using something other than tap water. I would suggest you use tap water and the little drops over bottled waters.
The key to long life and health in your fish will be clean water, stable temperature and a healthy and varied diet. With those things he should live to be 5 years old or more.
Hope that helps

A 15 gallon tank could hold about 3 or 4 fish Ideally. You should only put 1 male Betta fish in a tank because they are extremely territorial and will fight each other to the death. If you want more than one fish in the tank, I will suggest getting a couple of Betta compatible fish such as mollies, neon tetras, female guppies, some kinds of algae eaters, etc. My betta eats blood-worms that I bought at the pet store, and considering you only feed them 4 or 5 blood-worms once or twice a day, it takes a while before you have to buy more. They are VERY mean to each other!!! My betta survived 4 trips that lasted 2 hours (Going from home to dorm for school on holidays) so I see no reason as to why yours wouldn't. Good luck! :)

Bettas are sturdy fish crowntails and halfmoon varieties are a little more delicate but they can still live under the same principles as the regular ones the chlorine drops are a MUST unless you use aged water ( water that has been left out to rest 24-36 hours ) they are most happy in a 2-3 galon container with some sort of plant ( DO NOT GET ARTIFICIAL PLASTIC PLANTS BECAUSE THEY WILL SHRED THEIR FINS!!!!) bettas can also live in a bowl but dont expect them to flare as much or to be very active the water changes should be made once a week for 2-3 galon tanks and once every 3 days for smaler containers and for the food i would recomend pelets because they do not cloud the waters as much as flakes or live food other than that get a 10 galon tank cause i know youre going to want to breed your crowntail sometime... later one you might want to move on to more delicate bettas such as butterflies or halfmoon cowntails but thats later on for now just follow those guidelines and enjoy!!!

Yes you should DEFINATELY get the chlorine drops for the water, chlorine suffocates and burns the fish slowly and painfully (gross) till it dies. And yeah you know about the food. Depending on the size of the tank is how often you clean it, my 2 betta fish (Crowntail, and regular) both live in 2 seperate 1 gallon bowls that i clean every 5 days, if your bowl is smaller then you should every 2 to 3 days, or bigger every other week or so should do

you should clean its container (depending on the size) every month so that it has a clean and healthy ecosystem. you should use flake food because that is what most people have recommended. yes it does matter if you put those drops in because not all of them are fish safe so you should ask a fish store or look on the label
