Superman gives her a "super" kiss which erases her memory at the end of Superman 2.
This horrible plot device had to be created after they split up the original Superman script into two movies. Originally, he was going to turn time back like he does in Superman one, to save Lois, and in doing so she never finds out who he really is.

Abel: The events of 'Superman Returns' take place 5 years after the 'end' of 'Superman 2'. Didn't you watch the movie? :-) Someone may have given you a super-kiss to make you forget certain plot points, which would've been great for Superman IV: The Quest For Peace (of Lana's Lang) LOL!

Superman causes Lois to forget his secret identity with a super-kiss so as to spare her from the despair of knowing that they can never be together. He is again and forever Superman, and ties up a couple of other loose ends as the movie closes.

at the end of 2 Richard lester the replacement director and subsequent directer of 3, created the super memoery mind whammy kiss
also Singer stated that Returns is only semi sort of a follow up to 1 and 2, meaning that he was assuming the basics such as
Lex was arrested
Zod and co. had been defeated
Supes and Lois ahd hooked up
but he failed to factor in that at the end of 2 Superman returns the roof to the white house and says something to the effect of "I'll never abandon you again." but then to justify his absence at the start of returns Singer has hom gone for over 5 years

Ah.. Yes...
This is a little embaressing. Well, for the film.
At one point in the movie, near the end Superman gived Lois a Kiss that makes her forget that he is Clak Kent.
Yes, yes I know what a naff plot device. It's the only hic up in the whole movie.
I think they shouldn've just felt it that she knew, years before the comic. Good idea, ruined by a kiss

I don't think Superman Returns is a continuation of the older Superman movies. It takes place after he went to Krypton but....just forget anything happened in the old movies, this is a beginning of new Superman. The only thing that is related from the old movies to the new one is Superman going to Krypton. Superman Returns is gonna have a part two and three, you know!!! There is more story with the new one coming up, no worries.

I think he kisses her in two and it's obviously a special sort of Superman kiss that makes her forget,re- watch that bit and gauge her reaction, then you'll get it.
