Well, nobody has any authority on what dreams really are since we don't know what causes them and why or even whether we need them at all. Well, my view of them are as a way for the brain to sort through information, analyse and make connections. Dreams are your subconscious showing you what you fail to see when you are awake. Sometimes when you seem to "predict" the future, it may just be that your subconscious made some accurate deductions based on what your senses picked up.
Sometimes, when some things really bother you because of stress and worry or really capture your attention, they are at the forefront of your mind and star in your dreams. Like when I was 5 and had a dream that a t-rex outside my window, bit and turned my mum into a t-rex, causing me to chase her through the neighbourhood with a glass of water. It may be that I watched too much Dracula and Jurassic Park, or that my mum had the disposition of a t'rex sometimes, or just that I had a very healthy imagination. Part of the fun of dreams is just trying to find their meaning :D

I do think dreams are a part of our subconscious mind dealing with our fears, anxieties and life in general. Dreams can tell us certain things about what's going on in our lives, bring out something from the past that maybe we haven't dealt with yet, etc. Pay attention to your dreams and the meaning is usually in the details. Sweet dreams.

Dreaming is just the continuation of thinking. Its no different than day dreaming except; your R complex triggers neuro transmitters that cause higher brain functions to become less active. Dreams happen when the creative imaging part of your brain located in the right hemisphere is cut off from the logical left side. This happens because the bridge (corpus collosum) between hemispheres is also less active. That's why dreams usually don't make much sense.

yes, some , some mean things , some show how your body is feeling, anxiety, fear stuff like that, some are memories from past lives, some are reactions from the day like if someone mentioned an old friend you may dream of that person that night because they are in your subconcious, and some people dream of future events.

Of course dreams have meaning, when your having a problem you have nightmares, when your into someone you have dreams about that person, mostly every feeling you have in life that you really don't admit to yourself has a way of coming to you in your dreams.

I haven't really had dreams that had any true significance.
But I'm not knocking anyone else if they have dreams that
come true or have parts of the dream that are a sign
for something that is about to happen.

Dreams are the way the unconcious mind "communicates" with the concious. In dreams, all your unconcious fears and worries and emotions are displayed. It is a way for the unconcious to unwind and solve its problems. Yes, dreams have meaning!
