when I was 11 and thought I was mature I wanted a telescope, a guitar, one of those vibrating football games, I liked kits to build electronic stuff and take weather measurements, remote control vehicles- I wanted a bi-plane. And that was just stuff I was willing to let my folks in on.

my son will be 11 in a few weeks, he's getting to old for
birthday parties, so i told him instead i would take him to
the toy store and give him $200 to get whatever he wants.
he is very happy with that idea.

Well if he likes cars you can get him a model or remote control car. If he like animals get him a pet. If he likes a lot of stuff you should get him a laptop. I have a HP and it's perfect. Or a PS3 or Nitendo Wii. The Wiis are very fun.
