That's a tough one! I have friends who are gay and I think they are good, fun, loving people. But at the same time I think the catholic church is right in saying that marriage is defined as the union of a man and a woman.
I don't think that agreeing with same gender marriages makes you any less catholic. aren't we supposed to be loving and accepting of other people, and don't we believe in forgiveness?

I say yes. Many would claim I only say yes because I am lesbian and Catholic but that is not the reason. I think homosexuals have the same right to marriage as heterosexuals do. Why isn't homosexuality accepted by the Catholic church? Doesn't the bible teach us GOD IS LOVE/LOVE THY NEIGHBOR? Well, love your neighbor, mind your business and let Him judge us when our time comes. He is the only one who will judge us and if you have faith in Him and u believe he is to this day risen you should be able to have your own beliefs and praise him at the same time.

As a converted catholic with friends of all shapes, sizes and colors -- I agree with "God is love" and love in all forms is a celebration of the divine. I do go to Mass every weekend and we practice our faith in our household, nevertheless, I believe that our own relationship with God (divine, supreme, Jesus, what-have-you) should be the guide you follow in reconciling issues like this that test your belief. The Church is one of a history contradictions and rules of men.
I personally have no problem practicing the faith and supporting same-gender marriages. For me to do otherwise would be hypocritical of my values. Hope that helps.

+ Homosexual Marriage +
The Catholic Church believes that God himself is the author of marriage and has created it for one man and one woman.
The Church further teaches that being homosexual is not a sin but that all single people (heterosexual and homosexual) are called to celibacy.
What civil governments decide to do is up to their citizens and the constitution of the country.
But the Church has a commission from Jesus Christ to "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, ... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
In obedience to this command, the Church has been telling world governments what it believes is right and wrong since the time of the Romans.

+ Cafeteria Catholics +
Cafeteria style dining means to pick and choose what food to take from a cafeteria line.
The term "Cafeteria Christians" refers to people who view Christianity like a cafeteria where one picks and chooses only those beliefs that appeal to them and reject a genuine interpretation of Christian doctrine and the teachings of Jesus.
The term "Cafeteria Catholics" is similar. It is used to describe people who dissent from certain teachings of the Catholic Church while maintaining an outward identity as Catholics.
In Los Angeles in 1987, Pope John Paul II said: "It has to be noted that there is a tendency on the part of some Catholics to be selective in their adherence to the Church's moral teaching. It is sometimes claimed that dissent from the magisterium is totally compatible with being a "good Catholic," and poses no obstacle to the reception of the Sacraments. This is a grave error that challenges the teaching of the Bishops in the United States and elsewhere."
Heresy is the obstinate denial after Baptism of a truth which must be believed with with divine and Catholic faith.
"Cafeteria Catholics" in denial of certain truths are in danger of committing heresy.

Same sex marriage does not reconcile with what God's Word says about marriage. The Bible is very clear about the marriage covenant being between one MAN and one WOMAN.
