I told someone ( who asked) what I made and they went back and told my manager. I didn't think anything of it, I wasn't bragging or anything and I got in trouble for it. I aplogized but I am so embarrassed. I promised never to do it again. I can't get over how I feel. any advise?

Do not feel bad. You have the right to tell anyone. You are not pledged to secrecy. You did nothing wrong. There is nothing to be embarrassed about.
I am sure there are dozens of people in your company who already knew what you earned; managers, payroll department, human resources department.
If a co-worker is doing the same work as you but getting paid less, I am sure he would want to know that. I am also sure the manager would not want him to know that.

It's over and done, and you've learned a valuable lesson. You never discuss what you make with others in the same company. It's no one's business how much you make.

The next time someone at work asks you what you make, ask them to see their checkbook.. they'll never ask that question again!!

Never, ever tell anyone you work with how much you make. It only causes problems in the work place. Lesson learned...Now go on and forget it...

In a few days, that will fade away.

I made that same mistake, once. My boss wanted me to be written up for that. My supervisor talked her out of it.

I would never tell anyone about my pay. Also, it is none of their business to complain to your manager. Also, this will not reflect on your job performance.
