It seems to me that in our nation, we are forgetting, or never learning, the importance of being grateful. What do you think? After reading The Grapes of Wrath, I remember that I would be grateful for having a mattress. And especially a mattress with sheets on it. What are some of the things that you take for granted, that you are thankful for?

I work daily to over come a fault that most of us have and that is to take for granted what we consider to be the little things.
some of the things that I am grateful for are
a smile from a stranger
a hug from a child
a sunny day
a rainy day (with out the rain there are no flowers)
Truth & Love
I am so very thankful for God granting me the gift of family and friends to share in love and life all things great and small.
thank you for this question, it is good to be reminded that we should be thankful. some times we get so caught up in the miseries of the times and forget to be rejoiceful

Utilities. When the electricity or water cuts off for just a few hours or even less, I remember how many people in the world do not know those luxuries. In many parts of the world, people walk miles each day to get water from a well then have to tote it all the way home again, Then the next day, it's the same routine all over again. I think The Grapes of Wrath is one of the best books I've ever read. The movie starring Henry Fonda is also outstanding.

I have everything I need in life. I do not live rich by any means.
But, I too take comfort in knowing that I have a roof over my head, some food in the cupboard, a clean set of sheets (I only have one set which I have to wash often) , and my dog e even gets dog food. I live simple but good. I am thankful for all that I have. My computer was given to me and my daughters pay for my Internet....I do not have a cell phone and I drive an old 1992 Jeep. But, I am content for the first time in my life.....

I am thankful just for 'being alive' ... and that includes even the 'boredom' is sometimes feel when I'm not feeling 'entertained' enough ... so I guess I'm 'thankful' for everything.
