If you don't have enough RAM, it could crash. You could go to your local computer store, and have them upgrade your computer instead of getting a whole new one. It usually costs between $40-200, depending on the store and the computer you own.

are you kidding??? Ok anyways in case you did not now... RAM stands for Random Access Memory. Its basically memory that is used by your computer that is used while the computer is running. What your friend meant was to update your RAM module. The ram module is inside your computer and it looks like a rectangular chip with six to eight little black rectangles on it. That's a RAM module. It's kind of hard explaining it so I'll just give you some links here.
This link gives instructions on how to change the memory modules yourself.

It's a very simple procedure. If you feel that you are not able to do it you can just simply have your friend help you out with it.

RAM(random access memory) is the least expensive, easiest and fastest way to speed up your computer. For example if you are running XP, it requires 256MB of RAM for itself, If you have that or less your friend is right. Also games and some programs run better with more RAM. You can find the right type by going online and using a memory configurator site.

RAM, or 'ready (or random, can't remember) access memory' is what allows your computer to run programs and process stuff. Adding more RAM will not hurt your computer, especially if you get a professional or someone who knows what they are doing to help you. Your computer will run faster and open programs much easier.
....the way you asked this question makes me think you are joking.

I hope you are kidding.
But in the faintest possibility that you are not, RAM is a chip in your computer that serves as its short term memory. It is very useful for those of us that are accustomed to running many applications simultaneously (eg Excel, Internet Explorer, Access). By increasing the capacity of the computers short term memory, your computer will run more smoothly because it will be able to recall items quickly.

If this question is serious, RAM is an abbreviation for "random access memory". Your friend means you need to add more memory to your computer. Please go to a qualified computer technician or shop for further assistance.
If this question is not serious, then please just gently shake your computer. You don't need to actually ram it. Maybe you can ram it against a couple pillows...
