If the foul smell is associated with a thick cottage cheese like discharge that also is foul smelling, as well as burning, irritation, and itching down there, then this could be a sign of a yeast infection. She can buy over the counter medication, such as Monistat to treat the yeast infection, and Vagisil to treat the outer irritation.
However, if it is just a foul smell coming from down there, I would not recommend douching, as the vagina creates its own cleanser, discharge, and by douching it could lead to a bacteria infection or yeast infection. There are sprays and creams that are sold over the counter at any drug store or walmart, etc., that will help with the foul smell, such as a feminine wipe. If the smell continues after using the over the counter sprays, etc., then she should see a gynecologist.
Hope this helps.

the vagina should have no smell. If it smells bad, then u should see a doctor. u should never auto reccomend any kind of deodorants or douche without asking a doctor, this maight worsen the problem or cause a really bad infection. Tell her to make an appointment at her local clinic with her doctor.

douching can actually cause this. so can tight panties, soaps shampoo....the vagina is very sensitive....it may just be a yeast infection this is very common. Although they usually don't smell too bad. I get them farely often.
Get her to do a search on vaginal discharge (she likely has this too if she is smelling off). She can also search yeast infection, thrush......unless she is sexually active is probably isn't too serious...otherwise things could be more complicated....if its bad itching cracked labia....peeling...red...uum make her go see a doctor - or take her! Soon.
wish her good luck. (if it's a yeast infection get her to eat a lot of plain yogurt and she can put it down south too a tampon soaked in it - and some around the vagina entrance)

Your friend should not douche as that would make the problem worse, and should go see her dr to find out what kind of an infection she has because the smell is an indicator of infection such as bacterial vaginosis.

douching just pushes bacteria further up.
First of all, she needs to keep herself clean by washing at least once, if not twice a day.
Second, using wet wipes will help clean the area after using the potty. Remember to always wipe front to back, very important.
Third, incorporate vinegar into her daily diet. I heard an old adage once that goes "A capful (of vinegar) a day, keeps the odor away." It's true because it balances out our ph levels as women. I use vinegar in my diet (on fish, salads, sandwiches, etc.) and my hubby has no complaints!

Doctors recommend washing only with water to keep our natural defenses. Using douche were having period. If she uses only water she will get rid of the smell, sometimes douches are the reason of bad smell, gets dried... and has to create defenses or more flux to deal with the problem.
If it´s healthy it smells.... nice! (urggg)
Better seeing the doctor.

Your friend should not douche because down there is like a "self cleaning oven" as one can say. But she should really go to the doctor.......she might be embarrassed to go to the doctor but it's better to find out what wrong now than her finding out later!!

Tell her that if she 'smells foul' down there she NEEDS to see a 'doctor' or 'health specialist' ... I'm betting she has a 'YEAST INFECTION' and that can be 'easily cured' but since I 'don't know for sure' and some infections can be extremely 'damaging' she needs to go NOW. Tell her that, and take her if you must ...
