If Paulo and Nikki found the hatch first (According to the flashback), but they decided to not climb the ladder down--- how come Locke wasn't able to open it? It took dynamite explosives for Locke & Co. to open it up, but Paulo and Nikki were able to open it quite easily...why is that?

The hatch that Locke blew open was the Swan.
The hatch that Paulo & Nikki found was the Pearl.
Totally different locations...The map in the link below may help. This is what was on the back of the blast door when Locke was trapped underneath it, and the black-light came on.
Apparently, the Pearl is the one marked as C4.

I think it was a different hatch. The hatch Locke blew up was in season 1, I think. Also, I don't think Nikki went into the hatch at first, only Paulo who hid the diamonds.

Different hatch, the one Locke found was closer to the camp. The one Paulo found they covered back up again.

It was a different hatch. Locke & Co.[as you call them] found that hatch much later. Quite a while after the explosion hatch.

it is so suspenseful even the week to week waits are undesirable on account which you somewhat care related to the characters and lost is infamous for killing them off! You need to pay attention the hatch you're talking abut was not blown up bu just openned the hatch that blew up was a different one.

they found the hatch where the plain with the drugs was, called the pearl.
locke was trying to open the first hatch called the swan.
