Ok here is the story, my car has had the change oil light on for probably 2 weeks, it didnt say low oil, just change oil, also the temp was regular and I had just put gas in it, I was at a stoplight and all of a sudden it just starts chugging along, for probably about 5 seconds and then it just dies on me, then I start it again and it goes for another 5 seconds or so, then I try to start it again and it just turns over, doesnt start though, I had it towed to my house and now I need to either figure out whats wrong with it myself or pay a crapload to get it towed once again and fixed at an auto servicing place. Any idea what could be wrong with it? Would not changing the oil for 2 weeks after it told me be the case? If I changed my oil myself do you think it would start? I am not that great with cars but I really need some help here. Thanks.

Also I forgot to say my battery is fine, none of the lights were on for warning lights besides the change oil light.

It had oil in it as well, I added some right after it died and I could see there was plenty left in there, it was just old oil.

it doesn't sound like it has anything to do with oil. when you try and turn it over and it doesn't do anything? it might just need a new battery. but if it is trying to start but wont turn over and just sounds like it might but doesn't...... you re probably going to end up paying for that tow truck.

Well.. knowing WHAT kind of car you have might help.
Also you did not say if you checked the oil after she died. (Was there oil IN the engine?)
Assuming that the oil is ok.. just dirty, then you could have problems with the following:
1) Fuel: Fuel filter is clogged, Carb is dirty, fuel pump is shot. If you have injectors check them (but that would have made it run rough not shut down if they were bad).
2) Ignition: timing jumped, broken timing belt, wire broken or loose somewhere on the circuit .
3) Air: check your air filter or intake for a solid obstruction.
Changing your oil will not make any of these problems go away.
If, however, the light was for LOW oil, (vs. dirty oil) you may have toasted your engine. If that is not the case, then in the future remember to change your oil often as a matter of routine. This alone can extend your engines life by YEARS.

If the car was running ok right up until you filled the tank with gas, and then you had the problem, it could be you pumped a bunch of water into your tank from that gas station. Or, if you had let your tank go to empty, you could have pumped the water off the bottom of your own tank. Other than making sure the engine oil is reading ok on the dipstick, you could try to change your fuel filter and put some drygas in the fuel tank to help eliminate any water in the tank.

Sounds like it could be two things.
1. The gas station where you bought your gas at has a bad holding tank and groundwater has leaked into it. If this is the case, the gas station has to pay your repair bill.
2. Your fuel pump has gone out. Judging from your description, I would say this is most likely the cause. Fuel pumps tend to go out more often during weather changes. A clogged fuel filter, while it would cause havok on your car's performance, would not prevent the car from starting. The best way to check if the fuel pump has given up the ghost is to find your fuel rail, on which you will find a valve, it looks like the tire valves on your car. Turn your key on, and press the needle of the valve in. If you get a burst of fuel, your pump is probably ok. If it trickles out, you have your problem. If you get the burst of fuel, I would still rent a fuel pressure tester from autozone and check the pressure. Injectors require a certain amount of fuel pressure in order to operate. This will also tell you if you're getting water instead of fuel.

Sounds like the fuel pump or fuel filter. Turn the key to the on position. (Not start) Crawl under the car by the fuel tank. Try to listen if you can hear the fuel pump turning inside the gas tank. You might be able to hit the gas tank to get the fuel pump running again. This is only a temporary fix to get to the repair shop. If the fuel filter is clogged, you will need to replace.

If it was the oil, and it was empty for 2 weeks. Your car is fubar. You're probably looking at a new engine, although they can fix it(most likely), it's usually cheaper for a new engine or a car.
Had a similar problem, big hole in the engine, after it died I put oil, coolant, everything, it wouldn't start again....
But I'll be optimistic for you and hope it's a cheap fix, and it wasn't empty on oil(you can check that you know) and it's something else.

The oil light usually comes on for low oil pressure. It sounds like either you were out of oil, or your oil pump died. Check your oil level at the dipstick. Either way, I hate to say it, but I think the damage is already done. You need to take it to your mechanic.

which ability there may be a ton of issues incorrect. First turn the main to the on place suited earlier the automobile starts. pay attention for a mechanical sound. that would desire to be the gasoline pump priming up. If that does no longer take place you pick a gasoline pump. next attempt to tug assorted the spark plugs and take a glance at them. in the event that they are coated in black goo, it is incredibly not reliable and is why your automobile isn't commencing. in the event that they have a black powder on them and are lighter in shade in direction of the excellent it incredibly is regularly occurring and not the subject. next attempt turing the engine if it sort of sounds like it is spinning too speedy then your timing belt is broken and the automobile won't initiate. otherwise locate somebody with a code reader and notice if there are any difficulty codes, if no longer your automobile is fried.

Being you just put gas in your car, you probably have water in it and need some dry gas also called isopropl. You can get it at any gas station. It happens to me every once in a while and that is what it sounds like your problem is.
Good Luck
