You.....are in college????? I don't believe you! If you were, then you would be researching this by reading the texts about this and going to the library and NOT by asking strangers on a computer about it or by watching Fox TV. And didn't you see, when you typed in this question, that hundreds of other people have asked the exact same question? Why didn't you just look at the answers to those questions?

I suppose its a generation "Y" thing that they doubt the moon landings; there seems to be a lot of questions here about that fact.
A vast conspiracy! Get off the tube and go read some damn books.
The flag had a spring in it to cause it to wave, dear.
And I suppose the whole Apollo 13 near disaster-thing (there was a movie with Tom Hanks you can watch) was all made up also?
We really did travel the moon, not just once but several times and a handful of men had the privilege to stand on her surface and gaze at the Earth.

During the Cold War, there was fear that the US would be perceived as weak by the Soviets, so the president and Congress decided to create NASA in 1958 to enter a space race. It was quickly decided that it would be a good idea to make it look like we've landed men on the moon, so an enormous crash program was begun, based on Werner von Braun's wild ideas about travel to the moon, on creating the impression that we've actually done this. Unfortunately, it turned out that the cost and logistical difficulties of pulilng off such an outrageously complex hoax, trying to fool hundreds of millions of people for years without a single leak was out of the question, so NASA officials decided it was just cheaper to actually send men to the moon, and that's exactly what happened.

Yes, we landed on the moon. Conspiracy theories were drawn up by angry Americans in the 70's. It was a time of mistrust within the government, Watergate, and the Vietnam War. Most people think it was a distraction from the real problem at hand: Vietnam. However, that point is moot because the Apollo program was scrapped before the war ended.
We landed on the moon, Aldrin and Armstrong were there, they left footprints, it's all okay.

I don't know if I am too late for your paper , but no we actually did land on the moon. I don't know if FOX is a bad news Channel or if they just got the wrong info but... We definitely landed on the moon. Oh, and for anyone Who reads this do NOT believe the TV. if you don't know the answer look it up in a book, but don't trust the TV.

No, the statement about the landing being faked is completely false. Would it be at all possible to cease asking the same question over and over again? I have responded to this question at least 78 times in the recent past.
If you are indeed a college student, do you feel that you are getting the most out of your research hours by asking the man in the street what he thinks on Yahoo answers? Is it
possible that you would be better of reading some of the scientific journals published after the return of the crew from space? by visiting the Space Museum at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC, to see the space capsule and space suits they used? by reading materials available on NASA's own website?

Are you really in college? Fox News can not be considered a reliable source regardless your major. The most ignorant of people deny that we landed on the moon. The most intelligent confirm that we did. It is up to you to decide who is more reliable.

The moon landing was real, and the only real proof you need to know is this:
The soviets were first in space. They had the first satellite, the first orbit, etc.
We were their only competitor. They had all the technology they needed to call our bluff if we had tried to fake it.
They would certainly have done so if we had not made a legitimate moon landing.

dogsafire is absolutely correct. I just want to add that if the U.S. had faked the moon landing, the Soviets would've known. They were keeping a close eye on what we were doing in space, and they could hear the astronauts audio transmissions from space. If we'd faked it, they would've blown the whistle in a heartbeat.
