Can anyone help me think of a metaphor that describes you alone.. like you're the only person there, and there's nothing and no one around?

I think the standard metaphor for this is being an island, as in, "No man is an island", but I think this one is overworked. Depending on context, any of the following could be used:

1) The last crayon in the box
2) One sock
3) The lost migratory bird
4) The single glacial obelisk on the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro
5) A puddle in Badwater, Death Valley
6) A footprint on the moon
7) The school custodian long after hours
8) A runt left behind by the mother cat
9) An egg in an empty carton
10) And let's certainly not forget The Last Neanderthal
