I think the little man shrunk even smaller and wished for heat so he could fill in his loincloth
I think the big powerful man knew that it was hot when he had to run through the forests hiding from the females...and he would sweat.

I don`t think they freaked out because it was gradual. And I thik they figured it out pretty quick from natural instinct based on hunting patterns.

not sure.. but rainbows probably freaked them out.. probably thought they were a God or something.. this is where science comes in.. science has always been our tool to explain and understand the events around us.

Yes, but we should be smart enough to know the earth cools and heats naturally.
30 years ago it was global cooling (wikipedia).
