Why do gas prices get high every summer?

Question

I guess cuz they want to make money off of people traveling, right? And then I heard cuz they add something into the gas to keep it from evaporation easily at the gas stations so they have to bump up the price to compensate for that (i dont believe this one) , And so that the gas stations make it a few cents higher to make a profit off of it. And the price of the barrels get high or something like that. Well
What are some other reasons (real reasons)???

American and Mid-East Oil corporations freely use just about ALL the excuses you pose in your questions---and they ALL hold NO merit at all, either.

What the other answerers stated are pretty much true: it all comes down to pure GREED and POLITICS (where either the empowered like or dislike their fellow empowered--and we poor "turkeys" are trying to dodge the cross fire).

If you own a vehicle where the fuel door opens easily, you might want to look into purchasing a locking gas tank cap. As per gallon gas prices rise--so will incidents of siphon gas theives, striking (sometimes in broad daylight) parked cars; local police have already been instructed to be on the look-out for such desperate people.

I used to be a surveyor in the gas and oil field for 3 years. We pay so much for gas and oil because the company's stockpile what is produced in our country and sell us what they buy from over seas.
