Do you think that if a parent spanks their child when they are younger, that the child will grow up not liking the parent?
In some cases that's true, but I'm willing to hear other opinions.

You can dislike someone and love them at the same time.
And Sammy.........wow...I really don't know what to say to that....
I'm Insane! HELP!-..my parents are the same way, but I'm not in college yet, so we'll see.

I can count on one hand how many spankings I got
I was a very quiet child and the only one .I don't hate my parents I just don't get along with them
but it has nothing to do with spankings!
I have 2 kids and I don't agree with spankings
our kids are people and they deserve respect
talking things out is my approach.
hands are for helping not for hitting!

I got smacked. And I didn't turn into a psycho killer.
I have reasons not to like my Mother, but hitting me isn't one of them.
I think spanking on the rear is okay if you're at home.
If you're out, tell the kid that the spanking is coming later.
The thing I disagree with most is children acting like wild animals in restaurants, on planes, etc.

I was spanked and I love my parents for it. My kids were spanked and I do not doubt their love for me. There is a huge difference between spanking and hitting. There is no room in my world for hitting. A flat hand on a bottom however is spanking and it does work when handled properly and responsibly.

It takes more than a spanking to make a kid hate their parents. My dad used to hit me and it never bothered me because my mom was abusive psychologically. Instead of just smacking me when I was bad she would put me in the car and tell me she was taking me to the orphanage.

Of course, my butt got busted whenever it was needed and NO, I did not grow up disliking my parents. I look back on it now and thank God, they stepped in when I was misbehaving. I wasn't a brat as a kid and grew up to be very respectful.

I was spanked all the time... and I even got the belt too. I don't hate my parents at all they taught me how to act properly. My children get spanked and they don't hate me or my husband

Spare the rod and spoil the child. I grew up being reprimanded, spanked,etc. It never stunted my growth and I am sure I deserved everything I got.

I got a belt on bare legs & no I didn't hate my Dad for it,if anything it taught me respect for him...I do believe in discipline for kids,spankings when necessary..so sue me!Kids have no concept of respect today,lack of discipline is the cause,in my opinion..

I used to piss my mother off something rotten when I was younger, I was a spoilt brat and stubborn as hell.
She used to lose her temper with me and I would push and push, so she would slap me, LOADS of times.
I don't even remember how many times.
But one day, I had been cheeking her and she told my dad when he got in from work and for the first time in my LIFE he slapped my @r$e. It was the only time he EVER hit me and I was HORRIFIED. I will remember it forever. Even though it was the one and only time.
I love my mam & dad to pieces. (I WAS a little B ***** d mind you....!)
