Hi,
My counsellor told me something recently..it's actually so obvious but in a way I think it can help answer your question.
We have to have thoughts...to have emotions. The thoughst always come first.
I think its our own thoughts about a situation that can break our hearts, because no one else is physically doing it or making our brains switch to painful emotions.
For example: If a boy dumps a girl. She may say he broke her heart....but really it's the fact she starts to think about why he may have broke up with her and thinks about all the good and bad times and then these thoughts are proceeded by the emotions of heart ache and pain.
so i think that's how it happens without someone being aware, because unfortunately it's us really breaking our own hearts, with our minds....even though it's been the influence or actions of others that perhaps have caused us to think and therefore feel certain things.
Hope that helps a bit.

it is possible, heart break is an overwhelming pain arising from emotional, social, mental break down. Emotional is the most common and it is always a thing of feelings. one can lose a loved one and face serious emotional break down without the awareness of the dead person. a very good friend of mine once caused me social pain due to his mental problem, but he never knew he had broken my heart, i felt for him in his pains.

If someone is not aware of how you (and I'm saying you as an example) feel then they go on totally unaware of the heartache they are causing. I'm sure if they had all the facts then things would be different.

Sometimes people do not realize the effect they have on others. It is also the case that when someone's heart is broken they may appear to have a rough exterior and not let people that they are hurt.

Some people are oblivious to others feelings or needs. These people are very self centered and if something doesn't affect them, they don't think about what it could be doing to anyone else. There are some cold, heartless people out there. Take care of yourself.

People are capable of doing many things without knowing that they are. And if they do not know they are hurting someone, then the person who is being hurt needs to let the other person know, or else, how can they stop doing what ever it is they are doing that hurts the other person? (Whew!) Does that answer your question?

yes, its terrible, its the worst feeling ever and recovering from it takes time and divine intervention, to have the strenght to continue after such an emotional blow, god i wish i had it, it just takes time and lots of it, until you find someone else that will love you more and show you that life shouldnt stop because you have a broken heart, good hunting

Because the one that is doing the heart breaking probably doesn't even know that he is doing it, because he has no feelings for the one whose heart is breaking.

If that someone is so self absorbed and doesn't really have the time to consider what they are doing to someone. AKA - have their head up their own butt.

Maybe because people aren't mind readers. How should I know what someone else is feeling if they don't tell me.
This question is non-sensical...
