The reason I ask is because I just can't see how the war was good for our country.

Pros: (1) Removed Sadam and his crazy family from Earth
Cons: (1) Divides the country
(2) Costs hundreds of billions of dollars when the reason many problems on our soil aren't fixed is because of the cost
(3) Costs American lives
(4) Costs innocent Iraqi lives
(5) Causes average Iraqi citizens to become insurgents
(6) Turned into not a war with Iraq but a war against Muslims
(7) It is un-winnable
(8) It was started on false pretences
(9) Cost of gas in America has gone up tremendously
(10) We haven't decreased our usage of foreign oil and are setting ourselves up for them to refuse sale of it to the US
(11) Weakens our military
(12) We still haven't found Bin Laden, the reason we went to war against Terrorism
(13) The terrorists from 9/11 weren't from Iraq
(14) Fewer people are willing to be a part of the military because of a trigger-happy leader in Bush.

Please tell me some advantages of the war

Also, if anyone wants to mention that there haven't been anymore terrorists attacks on us since, how many Al Qaeda attacks did we have before 9/11?

I never mentioned pulling out of Iraq being the right course of action.

And as for feeling safe from terrorists, you guys are silly.

We can't win this war. What do we call a win? When what happens? All terrorists are killed? So you guys feel safe because we haven't had any attacks on our soil since 9/11, but the Iraqi citizens have had them almost daily. Right, you guys should be proud of yourselves.

You aren't going to get answers that are both good and accurate, since it really is just a horrible thing.

Notice how many people have bought the lines that 1) Muslims want to take over the whole world (no evidence of this, they don't want us destroying their countries, which is very different). 2) A bunch of rag-tag terrorists will come over here and actually defeat this huge country and take us over and make us live as Muslims. (Both false and silly.)

Most supporters simply don't get that this war has inspired people to BECOME terrorists.

Most also either don't believe or forget the damage we've done: over 600,000 murdered (and counting), tens of thousands tortured and raped by America, entire cities flattened, millions homeless, no water or electricity (to speak of), kids can't go to school because their parents want to see them again, women can't go outside without being completely covered and accompanied by a male relative (not true under Saddam).

And many hold to the WMD lies -- yes, they were lies, the UN inspectors were finding dust and cobwebs.

And some seem to have forgotten Bush pinning 9/11 on Saddam, despite all evidence and reason.

The person who said military are meeting recruitment goals are really missing crucial points: lower IQ and educational standards, accepting criminals, and slashing the goals are all that's made that possible.

BTW, your list leaves out how everyone in the world hates us now. Opinion of the U.S. has plummeted.

But if you hear and read lies, over and over -- and you dismiss those who speak truth "terrorists who hate America", you'll find ways to justify this war.

It wasn't the invasion alone that did all the harm; everything about how the war was conducted was wrong, and led to this mess.

First of all, the problems on our soil have existed long before we invaded. Not to mention, the 380 billion spent in Iraq in 4 years is only a small portion of the 1 trillion dollar annual budget this country has. Second of all, you know nothing about the supply and demand part of economics or you wouldn't be bringing up the current gas prices. Third, we didn't declare the war on terror just to get Bin Laden. Fourth, what makes you so sure we can't win? Fifth, Bush never said Iraq had any connection to 9/11. Sixth, nobody ever said the terrorists that caused 9/11 were from Iraq. Seventh, which should have been first, the war in Iraq ended when we took Saddam ans his sons out of power. Now it is an occupation. We are still there to completely get the job done so we don't have to go back again in another 10 or 11 years.

You make valid points, but I'll only comment on numbers 5, 6, and 7 due to time restraints.

First #7- This is strictly an opinion, and should be treated as such. With all the other "bad" things happening in Iraq, and with the media's fondness of reporting only the "bad" things in Iraq, I am not surprised that so many people hold this opinion. It is, however, not completely true. It might not be winnable within the time frame most Americans want it to be, and without using up many resources, but it is winnable. All it would take is for everyone in this country to get behind the endeavor. The fact that so many people do not want to actually do this, does not mean defeat, it means it will take longer to accomplish a victory.

#5-#6- I can only assume that you are talking about "radical" Muslims, as there are millions of Muslims worldwide who stand in agreement with the U.S. position against terrorism. You raise an interesting point in #6, "Turned into..." The phrase "turned into" implies that things have changed. I fully agree that the war has taken an unforeseen "turn" for the worse, but this is also a reason why leaving is not an option. We, and our coalition, have "turned" Iraq into a terrorist's wet dream. We have given them a whole country, and a war, to come and train to kill Americans - BY KILLING AMERICANS. (I think this touches on your #3) The thing is, by leaving, without fixing our mess, there is the chance that we will create even more hatred against our nation. The millions of Iraqis who do want us to stay will be left to the wolves. They will be calling for our blood along side their already pissed off countyrmen. The new Iraqi government will be under intense pressure to keep the peace. The potential for this institution's overthrow is extremely high. The questions being asked are who will assume power? The radical Shite Clerics, like Sadr? Iran?Saudi Arabia? If this country goes down, the u.S. will be set back fifty years on Middle eastern relations. We loose all credibility in the region. Sure, the average Iraqi will not attack America, but what message does this send to those who do wish a repeat of 9/11?

People support the war cause they think they are patriotic but if they loved their country then they would think about how stupid it was to occupy Iraq. Good point about terrorist attacks before 9/11. Also, people do not give homeland securtiy enough credit but it is this department that is responsible for combatting domestic terrorism. By occupying Iraq, Bush and the puppet army is just making more people hostile towards the United States. I know that homeland security has that stupid orange alert and terrorist attacks probably wouldn't have happened anyway but the point is fighting so called terrorists in Iraq is breaking this country financially and causing more hostility as well as higher gas prices.

You have some points. one thing I will correct is the insurgents are not Iraqi citizens, they are coming in from other countries they arent Iraqi's generally.
Thats why Iraqi do not believe this is a civil war ( yes Iraqi people livin there have been polled )

"""how many Al Qaeda attacks did we have before 9/11?""

WTC 93
USS Cole Bombing
Bombing of US Embasy in Kenya
Bombing of US Embassy in Tanzania

I could go on do you need more examples?

Your points are inaccurate and only posted to serve your ranting. We may not know for years whether this war was good for America but it has freed the Iraqiis from a filthy despot, or don't you care about anyone but you? No One ever wants to go to war....but terrorism is a horrible threat to the world and we owe the victimes of 9/11 some sort of action taken!

Oh that's simple. Because four seperate intelligence agencies (in four seperate countries) said Sadam had WMD's. Then Bush brought the topic in front of the house and senate who voted for war. Now we need to win. Not cut & run.

Some are just plain stupid but some correctly think that if we leave the country will plunge even deeper into a civil war and undesired forces can come to power , but the alternative (stay the course!) is even worserer ( did I spell it right ? it is similar to nucular)

infobrokernate, did we make a deal with alQaida to fight just in Iraq? You logic is infantile!

War is good for the USA economy. How many defense jobs are tied to war? How much ammunition will need to be resetttled? How many soldiers will get their medals after killing? How many heros will come from invading and murdering thouands, millions of Iraqis?

This is especially true with an inept manager like Bush running the country into the gorund with his incompetent business leadership. The war engine is all he has to offer.

This war is a huge mistake. Should have stayed in Afghanistan and finished the job there. Iraq had nothing to do with 911.
Bush wanted revenge for his daddy.

In 1993, while ex-President George Bush was visiting the ever-democratic Kingdom of Kuwait to receive thanks for liberating them, somebody tried to kill him. The CIA believes that "somebody" was Saddam. Hence Bush Jr's cry: "That man tried to kill my Daddy."
