Volume of a cone formula

v = 1/3 π r² h

v = 1/3 (3.141592654(7.002817496)²(5)

v = 1/3(3.141592654)(49.033945288)(5)

v = 1/3(154.0619849(5)

v = 1/3(770.3099346

v = 256.7699749 cubic feet

v = 257 cubic feet rounded up

If the circumference is 44 feet, the radius is 7 feet, and the volume of the cone is 7 x 7 x 5 x pi/3.

Step by step solution:

Volume of a cone is:
1/3 (pi r²) x h or 1/3 area of base x perp. height

You know the circumference of the base which is 44 ft.
You know the height which is 5 ft.

C = pi x d or 2 pi r - lets use 2 pi r
44 = 2 (3.14 ) r
44 = (6.28)r
r = 44 / 6.28
r = 7.006

V = 1/3 area of base x perp. height
V = 1/3 x (pi x r x r) x 5
V = 1/3 x (3.14 x 49.08) x 5
V = 1/3 x 154.111 x 5
V = 51.32 x 5
V = 256.6
Therefore, the volume of cement to the nearest cubic foot is 257 (256.6)

1/3*base area * height

have to find radius to solve
circumference = 44 = 2 * pi * r, so r = 44/(2*pi) = 7 feet

base area = pi*radius * radius = 153.93 square feet.

cone volume = 1/3 * 153.93* 5 = 256.56 cubic feet, or 257 cubic feet to the nearest foot.

Volume = ⅓π x r² x h
44ft circumference = 44 ÷ π = 44 ÷ 3.142 = 14ft diameter. = 7ft radius.
0.333 x 3.142 x 7 x 7 x 5 = 256 ft³

circumference of base = 2*pi*r = 44 feet
r=44/(2*pi)
volume = (1/3)pi*r^2*h = (22*7*5)/3
= 256.67 feet

1/3 the volume of the equivalent cylinder.

Circumference / Pi = diameter.

half the diameter is the radius.

the radius squared times pi = the area of the base

volume of cylinder is base times height.

Area of cone = 1/3 the volume of the cylinder.

v= base area X perpendicular height / 3 and that should give you the volume of the cement pile.
