Favourite author is probably Raymond Carver - nobody has ever written a better short story (okay, maybe Chekov), but when it comes to favourite book, it has to be a very close tie between "The Great Gatsby" by Fitzgerald, and "The Code of the Woosters" by P.G. Wodehouse, an allegiance that my online sobriquet might indicate. Both books shows the gulf between the man that we try to be, and the man that we are.

The Last Unicorn by Peter Beagle.

I guess because I want to believe that there is still a little magic in the world.
Also because as a child (one heck of a long time ago)I was often told that the waves were white horses trying to get up onto the beach. So.... another author's fantasy makes my childhood seem more magical as well.

I have read Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons" and they are both fantastic.

I'm also a big LOTR fan, so I really like "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien.
