-while ignoring the Republican Senaters and Congressmen who are also visiting and talking to Assad? Three Republicans, Frank Wolf, Joe Pitts and Robert Aderholt, visited with Assad the day before Pelosi, but they were not mentioned by President Bush at the Rose Garden, and do not seem to be being critisized for there actions. Why is it okay for them to go and discuss issues with Assad, but when Pelosi does it she is "being counterproductive?"

It sounds like you understand the Three Branch System better then Bush.

Obviously, the Republican senators got no criticism because they are of Bush's party and are playing his game.

There's nothing WRONG with Bush criticizing Pelosi, though doing so makes him look like a jerk. The President has the right to criticize his opponents, and Senators have the right to go on diplomatic missions, even without the approval of the President. They have the right to disagree with the President, to write and pass legislation against his wishes and to, in general, provide a reasoning counterpoint to his simple-minded, knee-jerk style of running the free world.

This is all why the President doesn't have King-like powers. He may think of himself as an emperor, and this President clearly does, but he is a hired servant, and his tremendous powers are balanced by opposing powers in the other two branches of government. Bush doesn't like it, but that's the system. Too bad for him.

Too true. Too true. Just like Republicans tried to minimize the Foley affair while harping constantly on Clinton for his. Issues are only big when it's a Democrat you can implicate. A Republican does the same thing? Well that's just the liberal media blowing things out of proportion.

Maybe because Pelosi was being counterproductive and they weren't?
It isn't appropriate for her to meet with foreign leaders without the approval of the Administration. Maybe you remember, that Ronald and Nancy Reagan were invited by Gorbachev to come visit again sometime, but they didn't because it wasn't appropriate for them to do so.

The Republicans you speak of are not making false "deals" with the Israeli & Syrian governments like Pelosi is. It looks as if Bush knew she was going to act presidential and make a fool of herself. She with the covered head and bowing down to Muslims.

It's called partisanship. Everybody does it. Use what info you have to make the other people look bad. It's nothing new and shouldn't shock anybody.
