Hello, I have an easy question! I would just like to know what the most necessary things I should have in my car, so far I have a spare tire, a little jack, a lug bar, phillips screw driver, a small rachet set, and some rags. So what should I keep incase of a breakdown or of the such. I also want to maintain good fuel economy so I dont want to weight it down. It is a '85 Fiero GT with little trunk space.

A fine looking woman. If it breaks down, she can keep you occupied while you wait for the tow truck, she can help to flag down help faster then you, and she may be able to get you a discount on any repair parts.

duct tape, a couple large hose clamps, a sharp utility knife and a couple 2 inch lengths of thin wall 1.5 inch pvc pipe. the pipe can be used for splicing a bad radiator hose with the large hose clamps. also carry a jug of water and a quart of oil. some jumper cables or better a booster pack. flares and either a air pump or can of fix a flat. thats a good start. do that and you will be ready for anything short of a roadside rebuild!

if you are either paranoid or a car burglar you would want one of those little window breaking hammers just in case you fly off a bridge or into a rain swollen crick and need a way out or in case you run across a car with sum kind of good merchandise that a quick smash and grab would be in order .

A cell phone, emergency flares, lots of water and warm clothing. A lot of breakdowns are not DIY repairs so have a back-up plan and tell others where your going.

flash light and jumper cables. In the winter, you may want to have some water and snacks, and some sand in case you're on ice and stuck.
