Some good answers so far. By the way, I'm not a man hater!

Some guys come in here already with the idea that feminism is a bad thing and either A) want to stir up trouble and B) want to feel like the victim of some man-hating conspiracy. Any sexism in these guys is mostly covert, but not always.

There are others here, however, that ask fair and thought provoking questions that don't always incite flame wars.

But it seems like a lot of guys here come here to make a point of some kind and not open their minds up to other arguments.

Me? I think gender relations are important and am interested in what other people have to say about them.

Since the first two answerers were women, I'll try to give a reasonable answer for the guys. We hear from women that we couldn't possibly understand what it's like to be a woman. Most women seem to enjoy our discomfiture and won't or can't explain what they mean. Some of us are truly interested in getting information because we don't want to rush to judgment or ignore any helpful information that may be available. However, many women seem to be uncomfortable with this approach also. If the questions seem stupid to you, is it because they are based on what women have told us, or is it because you've made assumptions? Has it occurred to you that many female professors are giving classes in women's studies, and there is little content similarity from one class to another? Why is that? I had a female friend ask about a male perspective on an issue and it really made me think. It's easy to give a glib one-liner, but it's really better to think about why a question is being asked, and then answer it as best as you can. You might teach us all something, even if it is only tolerance.

I agree, there are some daft & incendiary questions posted by men in WS. But, there are a lot of very good questions, too. Some of the answers to the better questions indicate that there are still a huge number of women who are oblivious to the double standards within the women's movement. I personally learn much from these types of responses, as should the men who need to learn how to avoid misled feminists.

probably the same reason Foxhunter Guy keeps going into the Vegetarian section of food and drink and saying stupid things.

I haven't read the posts you are referring to but if they are trying to cause trouble then I would imagine they have some problems of their own and are taking it out on you women.

All the best!

Oh I just read them. Looks to me like you will just have to post more "proper" questions and drown them out so that new readers in this section don't get put off.

Because women studies exsist on the premise that "Women want equal rights".

Men accepted it at first, then slowly realized that women don't want equality. They want privilege without responsibility.

If you wanted equal rights, then let's see your email to Yahoo Answers demanding that a 'men's studies' section be opened?

Oh, I forgot. You will take the usual female position that men have always had it easy. But why is it that men never see women demanding to be included in The Draft?

Probably because you're dealing with bored individuals who love to get your goat. My advise-ignore, ignore, ignore.
In about 5-10 years, they'll look back and think "What a jerk I was"
