I have a male polish rabbit and he seems to shed constantly. The hair gets all over the place--on the carpet, in the air, on my clothes--and my mother doesn't like it. I try brushing him, but it doesn't seem to do any good. What can I do?

there is nothing you really can do. i mean if he is shedding all the time that wierd. but right now it is shedding season for bunnies so do your best to just brush him as much as you can. have you tried a slicker brush? you can "pull" the hair a bit to make it shed faster but that can make him bald in spots for a while
I hope this helps but really all you can do is just try and brush him alot.

Before your mother has a fit and gets to the point where she tells you to get rid of the poor rabbit, why not get up off your butt and vacumn? Show her how grown up you are and she will very much appreciate the help. Do you expect her to do all the chores around the house to maintain the place and keep it clean? Part of being an adult is accepting responsibility. This is your rabbit. If you truly care about him, you will make the effort.

As far as your clothes go, get one of those sticky rollers (you can find them at Target or Wal-Mart) and roller the hair off.

Pets are living beings and they require maintenance just as much as anyone else. They have to go to the doctor occasionally, and require clean areas to live in, food and water. Pets are NOT like vases or bookends or stereos, which can be set aside on a shelf until thought of or needed. They also require daily attention. This is a lifelong commitment you have made so I hope, for your rabbit's sake, that you are up to it.

Rabbits naturally shed 4 times/year and every other one is a heavy shed. We find that daily brushing helps and you can dampen your hands and rub them over the fur tand that seems to help.
If your bunny doesn't like the brushing, try doing it a little at a time more frequently so he gets used to it. We pet ours and when they are very relaxed we'll brush for a bit. We also use the dustbuster in their room more often when they are shedding.

You can't, but rabbits don't constantly shed, the usually go through a BIG shed twice a year and the rest is hardly noticeable. Just brushing your rabbit everyday is the best you can do. Your rabbit isn't abnormal.

There's no "solution" to animal shedding, especially in the spring when they're sloughing off their winter coats. Brushing them can help make the problem more manageable (by taking out lots of loose hairs at once), but you can't stop it.

Depending on where you live, this should clear up within the next month or so.

Well, it is Spring time and that's when every kind of animal gets a new "Spring Coat". Just deal with it because usually in the Spring it mates. The fur would be a nest for the babies. It is very natural. It will stop soon!

You can't stop an animal from shedding. Brushing it often might help though.

There's really nothing you can do about it. That's why I got rid of mine.
