You may be young and have not 'found' your 'real' voice yet. Here is an exercise ::
Say 'no' loud, as if you were telling a dog sternly. Say it again a little lower. THAT voice is probably your real voice and that is the voice that will record more pleasingly. Chances are, like most people, you are speaking in a register that's too high.
You're welcome!

Practice. Just sort of play around with the distance between you and the mic. Try singing through an empty water bottle (sounds cool), or in a closet, or try cupping your hands around the mic. You'll eventually find some really cool sounds.

Everyone's voice changes when recorded. The mixing process changes your voice. Just don't stutter and don't breathe out from the nose directly into the mic, both of which distracts listeners.

Dear Angel:

I was told that a table spoon of olive oil helps before singing it somehow loosens up the vocal cords. I was also told that dairy products is a no, no before singing.

Have a Happy Easter,

Echo chamber. If you're using a for real studio, it's one of the effects that most have before it hits the mixing board. Good Luck!
