As a true American, it's his or her job to speak against anything that is wrong with our Government and not turn blind eye and be loyal because it's our Government or Made in the USA. For example, If we continue to support the U.S. car manufacturer even though they are screwing the American consumers by DELIBERATELY making crappy cars (especially in the 70s), why would they every want to improve? It's the same with our Government. We have to speak up and not support when it's doing Americans harm.

I've speaking up agains Bush admin and the ignorant die-hard supporters of Bush bash me for being un-patriotic when the reality is that they are really the ones who are being Un-patriotic when ignoring the real problem. Hence, Dixie Chicks the true Americans.

I'm only using Dixie Chicks as an example. They spoke up and got punished but they sacrificed for their own good to be true Americans.

I don't want to comment on the first part, but as far as the auto industry and myself living in Michigan. I can't blame the companies themselves, the Unions I can blame, they are snakes to the very last word. $30 an hour to maybe go to work that day, or maybe not, still get paid who cares. The things you hear about those workers that you think couldn't be true, they all are and I really do wish I was making it up, but its all true.

The Declaration of Independence was the charter document that told Britain we didn't like their government and we were going to make our own,

It is the cornerstone of my States constitution :

I[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

Anyone can go around knocking the government, car manufacturers, pet food companies or whatever you want. Call it speaking up but no matter what you label it, it's no more than petty rhetoric.

A true patriot would act.....you know, do something about it.
