Note: This step is not applicable to Windows 9X.

4. Locate kavsvc on the list of services and then double-click on it.

5. In the kavsvc Properties dialog box click the down arrow for Startup type and select Disabled.

6. Click OK.

7. Restart your computer.

8. If the Kaspersky Anti-Virus icon is present in the Windows® system tray, right mouse-click on it, and select Exit.

Uninstall Kaspersky Anti-Virus

Maybe, your anti virus software is somehere hidden in your Hard Disk. You can get rid of it.Click the 'start' icon in your bottom left of the screen. Then click settings, then click Control Panel.A window will open.Doublecick the icon 'Add or Remove Programs'.A window will open. Now wait until your PC Softwares load. Then there will be the list of programs/softwares installed on your PC.Then find your anti virus software. When you have found it, click it, then click 'Change/Remove' Tab on the right. Then a wizard will open now you can do whatever you like with your software.

Thanks

*IF* you've looked in Add and Remove Software and made sure it's not there! then there's a couple ways you can at least try to make sure it's not coming up at startup, but be careful! Look at the startup list at c:\documents and settings\\start menu\programs\startup (where is your Widows logon name) and Delete the shortcuts of any programs you don't want to run on startup. (Or go to Start --> Programs --> Startup and you may find the same thing...)

Then if you're really adventurous (extremely dangerous!) Start--> Run--> msconfig and look at the tab labeled Startup and either (a) best bet: you may see and recognize Kapersky and its location, in which case, Cancel and get the heck out of msconfig and be safe and you'll know where to get rid of Kapersky or (b) you could unclck it in msconfig, in which case...

You'll have to OK, (make no other changes!) then restart Windows, (msconfig will come up and say stuff has changed...and will come up every time you boot, unless you click the box in its window, that says, Don't...), and then Kapersky at startup will be gone.

Like I say, be very careful. Maybe you'd like to read up on this first! See the source listed...

It didn't just appear, someone allowed it to be installed and that someone must have an administrator account.

you could go to the Kaspersky website and download a manual. I'm sure that will tell you how to disable or get rid of it

Are you an AOL user? Aim user? Kaspersky is the antivirus used by AOL. You may have got it with an AOL security toolbar installation. Kaspersky is the top of the line in antivirus. They don't force themselves on you.

Although both are good i like ESET Nod32. It will use far less of your computer resources to do it's job than Kaspersky.

Go to MY COMPUTER, double click and search the windows directories. Or the search above run on the start panel, and delete anything with kapersky on it.
