It depends a bit on the country you're in.
Some countries use subtitles which to me is better.
But humor is one of the hardest things to translate.
Some jokes just don't work in another language.
A lot of jokes are also cultural and they sure as hell don't work in another country or other language.
A lot of the jokes in The Simpson's are very cultural and a lot of common things in the US of A simply don't exist or happen in other countries.

Well no because I don't speak any other languages. The simpsons are generally pretty dumb anyways though, I don't think it's something lost in translation. Plus different cultures have different ideas of comedy. Ever seen some of the stuff Japanese people get into? It's totally and utterly insane, but they find it funny. So I don't think it's really the translation, it's just the culture difference....except for the Simpsons. Again, it's all that's on during that time block, so it's a captive audience for a stupid show.

Humor doesn’t translate well. This is because humor is so often culture-specific. That doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with American culture, the great melting pot, it is just the way it is. When we start getting rid of humor because of ‘political correctness’, that is the beginning of the end. Oh, wait, it’s already happened!

Yes, I agree. I've also noticed that martial arts movies translated into English are hilarious.

Reverse it, it's the same thing. When I saw an English translated Tagalog movie, I didn't know what my reactions were gonna be...
* Disgust (WTF?! That's not how it's supposed to go!!!)
* Laughter (WTF?! That's not how it's supposed to go!!!)
* Creeped out (WTF?! That's not how it's supposed to go!!!)
