i have been told you can train a fly is this true

Yes. In fact certain companies are exploiting insects to detect certain scents and smells. One could train the flies to associate something with food, and then surround it.

Examples of possible uses include landmine detection, drug control, or even cancer detection.

You'd have to hurry because flies don't live very long.

If I had to train a fly, I'd choose to train it to land on my sandwich.

I don't think so, flies don't have a true brain that I know of....I think its more of a neural network that wouldn't be possible of learned behavior.
