That's not grinding. You're feeling the pulses from the abs pump. It actually pumps the brakes several times a second and gives you sort of a grinding sensation through the pedal. It's normal.

Several things; If you are hearing a grinding it is probable not the anti-lock, but your pads. If you are feeling a slow pulsation, it is probable happening at slow speeds, and everytime you brake. This is caused by a "thickness variation" on you rotors (usually front). Your pads may be thick, and your rotors may not be scared, but around the circumference of your rotors is a difference in thickness. Measure your rotors with a micrometer in four different spots @. If there is a difference of .002 to .003 at any spot of a rotor that will cause the pedal pulsation. If there is enough material left, your rotors could be machined down. Most of the time you will not have enough metal left to cut and will need to replace rotors. The grinding sound may be coming from rust ridge on rotors, or poss build up form your pads.

Grinding from ANY brake system is sign of wear, sever wear. You prob even destroyed your rotors by now. Get it checked ASAP
