I know. This crap is for shows like "Entertainment Tonight" or "Showbiz Tonight" not for supposedly "serious" news programs. Maybe they're using stuff like this and Britney and Anna Nicole as a smokescreen to draw attention away from much more serious issues.

The competition and stress level in our society is too much. We need diversion. And Sanjaya and his weird hairdos and his flirtaeous behavior with Paula Abdul provides a break from the harsh reality of everyday life. Plus the news is so biased and opinionated, unless a major castrophe happens, there is going to be spin on the news.

Yes, we'd like to only hear the BAD news from Iraq and the latest with SANJAYA .
I agree, vote the producers off. Ever notice they never interview the servicemen in Iraq with positive news, and I am sure there are some.

That is a very good question. I suppose its because of ratings, and attracting the "lowest common denominator" to the show. Anyway, TV news has become primarily entertainment for the masses.

Its the same reason we had minute to minute coverage when Anna Nichole Smith died. Americans have a terrible education about the world, and really don't care about whats happening. Its the same reason when the media does cover serious issues they are so simplified.

Because once again priorities are all mixed up. But then and again, if the public didn't respond to it, then maybe what's really important in this world would be center stage in the news.

Topics like American Idol attract more viewers than stories on war, genocide, and "children/elderly issues".
