There is no "still a theory." Theory=best explanation for evidence set in science.

LabGirl is exactly correct. In science, a theory just means "explanation based on the evidence." So the theory of bio-genesis (perhaps you mean abiogenesis?) will *always* be a theory, just like any other explanation in science.

A 'law' in science is not an explanation. It is a short statement that seems to *describe* some universal fact in nature.

So when you say "still a theory", you are implying that there is some process whereby a theory should somehow 'graduate' to the status of law. There is no such process. A 'theory' and a 'law' are two very different types of statement in science. One cannot become the other.

A theory. There is enough evidence to generally say it happened, but not everything is known.

PS that is a SCIENCE definition of theory, not a vernacular one.
