Practice making faces in the mirror. All of the celebs and models do this. They know exactly which side of their face should be towards the camera, what angle, where their chin should be, how they should smile, etc.

Seriously. Practice in the mirror. Take fashion magazines etc. and use them as a guide.

Practice posing in front of a mirror to find your most flattering facial expression from different angles.
Then, practice by taking pictures of yourself. Set your camera on a tripod or flat sturdy surface and set the self-timer. This works best with a digital camera because you can see the results right away. Look at the picture and see what you don't like about it. Shots made from below eye level tend to show a lot of chin. Shots from straight on make your face look wide. Maybe a smile you practiced in the mirror doesn't come out too flattering in a pic. Adjust your pose and take the pic again until you find a pose that you like. Keep that in mind next time someone is photographing you. Remember that they may use a different camera angle, so practice from different angles and different perspectives.

This sounds like a lot of work and maybe it is over the top, but I had a man in my life that wanted me to take some nudes for him. The first batch I took were awful! It took quite a bit of practice to find those flattering poses (espeically when you're baring it all and every lump and line is in play!) But now that I've found my "sweet spot" so to speak, even regular pics of me are better because I put into practice what I learned when photographing myself nude.

This, my friends, is why they make digital cameras....no one has to know but you!

Maybe ur being too hard on urself and expecting too much. a lot of times I'm not satisfied w/pix of me, yet people constantly tell me "I'm photogenic"
A lot has to do w/the right lighting.....soft lighting, angle, shadows
Study up on taking great photographs, BE CREATIVE and experiment.
Don't be shy about it, and get tons of rolls of film, taking a variety of reg. pic, plus digital, and even poloroid.
sometimes one method of photography benefits u better than the other. For some reason poloroids I look the best in for ex.
And make sure to experiment w/different ways to use ur make up......assuming your a woman that is. Although of course when getting photos done professionally they use make up on men as well.
Well, those are my "secrets"
Hope I helped U :-)

I have a small problem as well, but I have learned how to offset it. Whenever I take pictures one of my eyes is slightly higher than the other. it used to be bad but I figured out if I ****** my head a little it would offset it. Try leaning your head back or tilting it at different angles every time you take a picture. You might find the perfect angle that's best for you. It really takes trial and error, but if you practice, you will come out with the best possible picture of you. Good luck!

I'm the same way, and I used to model!!! My skin is so pale and my hair is long and pitch black. Just try using different lighting. Flourecent lights are terrible for pictures. Also, try not having the camera so close, try giving a settle face instead of cheesing. Also practice at home with a digital, you wouldn't believe how many cute pictures you can take of yourself, just by holding the camera out.

Try and get the person who is taking the pic to take multiple pictures and try making different poses each time!
