I think my roommate is...gay or something. One day, I woke up and he was lifting my sheet up and looking and I shoved him away and then he left me alone. I don't know WHAT he was doing. Also, he masturbates from time to time. Loudly too, as if he doesn't care whether I can hear him or something. What is wrong with him??

Doesn't sound like he's necessarily gay, sounds like he's just weird and has poor boundaries. I know lots of gay people and they don't go around masturbating in the open and lifting up people's sheets!!!

First, tell him in an assertive manner that his behavior is NOT ok. Be specific.

Second, next time you hear him masturbating, just say, "hey! Are you masturbating? Because if you are, I'd really appreciate if you could go to the bathroom and do that. I do NOT want to hear it or see it."

If he continues, then you need to see the housing office at your university and tell them what is happening. Be sure to provide dates and times if you can that way they have documented reasons for your need for a new roommate. His behavior is inappropriate.

Time for a new roommate, dude! He is definitely in your space, as the other answer points out. Why wait around until something really bad happens. Move out now.

ps this is sexualk harassment. If the school gives you a hard time about moving out, go to see the officer charged with handling sexual harassment. If you make a complaint and the school fails to take action you can sue their pants off.
