~Pretty much the same as if you were anyplace else, as adjusted for longitude and latitude, unless you are near a large iron deposit or a magnetic anomaly, which will alter the compass in the Rockies just the same as a like interference in any other region, but only if you hold the compass on the horizontal as the needle cannot point accurately if you hold the compass vertically unless the compass is spherical and the needle is free-floating and ............., never mind, wait for daylight and check the position sun relative to the time or wait until dark and find polaris.

you have three numbers to deal with here....True, or whats on a map, where going due north is 000 degrees; magnetic, which is the difference that the magnetic north pole is from true north and is different all over the world, but fortunately is recorded on all maps, and compass, which is any local effects on your compass.....like holding a knife near by.
Lets assume there aren't any local affects on your compass.....like a knife or a local load of iron ore or a GPS running.......so look at your map and see what local Variation is......that's the difference between True and Magnetic north. I have no idea what it is in the Rockies; here in the Caribbean its about 15 degrees west............that is the compass thinks north is 15 degrees west of where it is on a map, so if you want to go due north on a map you go 015 on your compass

Hi. North by northwest. Just a guess.
Edit: Sorry, north by northeast. Just Google Earthed it. (First time I ever used 'Earthed' as a verb!) The North magnetic pole is at about +82° 42' 0.00", -114° 24' 0.00"

your direction would be north unless you are near metals that would make north appear some other place than it really is
